Emotional Freedom, Meditation, & Poetry

Welcome! I’m grateful that you’re here.

I’m Holly, and as a poet, EFT, meditation, and yoga facilitator, I am a student of silence and stories. I was raised in Louisiana by my Honduran mother and American father. Both of my parents have Indigenous American ancestry, which I am learning about everyday.

The wound is where the light enters you.
— Rumi

My Background

Healing is homecoming. The word “heal” means “to restore to wholeness,” which suggests that we are and have always been whole.

I often felt lost early in life. Thankfully, when we are lost, it means we have something to find.

My greatest spiritual teacher was my childhood trauma. When I was in middle school, my parents started fighting and eventually divorced. It may sound strange but I am grateful for my upbringing because there was a seed of discernment planted in me. When the chaos of alcoholism and domestic violence intensified, I learned that being quiet kept me safe. I closely observed the human condition, curious as to how love and fear brought us here. To distance myself from dysfunction, I found refuge in solitude and witnessed what behaviors and coping methods I didn’t want to partake in. This dense reality was the catalyst for my healing journey.

I carried wounds that my family of origin did not have time or tools to process. I truly feel that the depth of darkness, sadness, and otherness that I felt growing up prepared me to grow, find light, belonging, and safety with other human beings. Healing these deep-rooted traumas is a responsibility that I cherish. Of course, I am human and still have doubtful moments, but my emotions used to mystify and terrify me. Now, I can hold space for them, notice what they are communicating, and learn to continue living with more awareness and presence.

(TW: self-harm & suicide) When I was a teenager, I started therapy after confessing to my mother that I was cutting myself and suffering from life-ending thoughts. Through years of psychotherapy and self-discovery, I began to unpack and befriend my heavy emotions. As a sensitive soul, my curiosity only grew and empathy deepened as I healed my heart. Along with carrying my ancestors’ wounds, I also carry their wisdom. I now honor them by taking care of my own body, mind, and soul, since I am their legacy.

Through my personal experience of loss, I became fascinated with deep topics. Through independently researching and investigating myself, I was learning how to meet others who have also gone through dense realities. These stories beckon me to learn and understand these patterns so that painful cycles end with me.

Buddhism, yoga, poetry, and sobriety are active teachers in my life, reminding me of the importance of compassion, balance, and presence. I am grateful to be a lifelong student of these ancient lineages, and feel compelled to share this wisdom with the world. Through bridging the spiritual with the practical, it is my intention to empower others on their personal adventures and spiritual quests.
